Maybe.......but the world would be a very dull, and very predictable place, if we all reacted in the exact same way! It's good to mix things up a bit sometimes....makes folk think a tad more!
-
Afternoon Bobby! You're not on the list - I've checked!! What you need, is a hair of the dog, a nibble on your pork rind, and a couple of stress free hours on The Wye......that'll put a smile back on your face, and a spring back in your step my friend! We've disagreed before, and we shall no doubt disagree again......but the best of Blogging Buddies we shall remain!

Hi Denise! Harry Bramer bought Caradoc Court in 2009. In 2010 he applied for, and was granted planning permission for six dwellings to be built within its grounds. I have no idea if he still owns this, or it's the one he sold a few months ago......for three million quid!

And another thing! Megilleland, Two Wheels and Biomech have all been rather quiet of late - don't think I haven't noticed! Now, unless you can produce a note from your Mum excusing you from posting duties, you three need to get back to work!

Another raft of new members have signed up.....great news! However, unless new posters start adding to this site, it is in danger of becoming rather stale....we need your thoughts guys!! Add to the mix, get involved.....I may increase my offer from a cheese and onion roll, to include crisps and a mars bar as well, to those who start to contribute!

Morning Bobby! You are quite right - they are not all British, but that should make not one jot of difference! Let's say, that one evening you stumble through your front door with your large mixed kebab, and your wife decides that hitting you around the face with her frying pan really isn't having the desired effect, and instead hands you a suitcase and changes the locks! It doesn't take an awful lot to go wrong in life, to find yourself adding to "The Fifteen" and bumping up their number by one! Would you really prefer not to have help, support and interventions to assist you in getting back on track???

Saving The Working Boys Home *UPDATE*
dippyhippy replied to dippyhippy's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Thanks for this timely reminder Grid Knocker! We all need to be on our toes - the window of opportunity will not be open for very long! -
Evening George! I love that quote! I think I have probably said previously, I would never feel comfortable saying that anyone is beyond help. Too often, this group of people are regarded as somebody else's problem. I would say that with the wrong twist of fate, those same problems could be visited upon any one of us, or those we love. None of us have all the answers, but we can at least try to be constructive in the way we try to find them. It's not often Bobby and I cross swords, but it appears on this topic, we cannot agree on the best way forward......doesn't mean I'm any the less fond of him though!! Hope all is well with you, it's great to see you becoming a regular contributor to these pages!

Good Evening Bobby! I fear we will have to agree to disagree on this one! Nothing will ever change for the better - unless people try to change things!! You can't knock folk for doing that! Whilst I share your concerns about certain establishments that sell cheap booze and under the counter tobacco, and endorse your suggestion that this really does need to be dealt with, I cannot in all conscience, agree with other points you have made in your post! This group of people already live on the very fringes of society, to ignore what is happening is really not an option. You may well think me a soft touch - you may well be right - but to me, it doesn't matter if it's one person or one hundred people that need help, they should be given it. I honestly don't think that any of the agencies involved in trying to offer support to tackle this, see themselves as "The great and the good", and I do think it a tad unfair of you to suggest this. I absolutely do agree 100% with you about the operational name.....that is beyond ridiculous! It would be boring if we sang from the same hymn sheet all the time.....and by the way, a soft touch, I may be, but I am never hysterical!! Warm regards to you!!

We Need Better Lane Guidance On Hereford Roundabout
dippyhippy replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford City
I'm sure plenty of folks will offer you words of wisdom on this one, Howler......I just wanted to say "Welcome!" We seem to be cut up on this roundabout every single time we use it......people just don't seem to know how to navigate it!- 28 replies

I think it's a really positive thing George! No sitting on the fence for me! This is one of those situations where not everybody is going to agree that in these cash strapped times, resources should be targeted at this specific group. But, I think this multi pronged approach may make a real difference. I absolutely hope it does, for all concerned.

I have to say, I have never NOT felt safe, living in Hereford! I merrily wander around the streets where I live at all times of the day and night, often making my way back from visiting friends,or walking the dog by myself......I do not feel intimitaded, or feel that there is any real threat to my personal safety. Most folks making there way home from one of the local pubs, I would probably know by sight anyway! That's not to say I'd feel comfortable say, walking up The Great Western Way alone at 3 in the morning........but I have no worries in walking through town of a night! I think a lot is mindset.

Interesting article over at HT. Hereford Cops To "Take Back The Streets." It would seem a multi agency approach has been operational for the past two weeks.....Operation Castlemaine. Sounds as if different groups are really pulling together, to make a positive and lasting difference. Apologies for not being able to provide a handy link!!

How do I know my elected leader is an honest sort!
dippyhippy replied to bobby47's topic in Open Forum
Thanks for the link, Grid Knocker. It makes for sobering reading. Cover up after cover up. I don't know how some people can sleep at night if they have facilitated those responsible being able to get away with it. -

Good grief, Bobby! I almost choked on my seeded bap reading this! Your mind works in mysterious ways.......but I think you may have stumbled across a wonderful "Truth Test" Simple, quick and effective......and much less hassle than the polygraph machine I keep in the cellar......strangely enough, I've yet to meet a doorstep canvasser who has accepted my invitation to be wired up to it! -
Good Lord!! Today had all the ingredients for being truly awful.....yet here I am, half past two, the sun is shining and I switch on my lap top to find not one, but two posts from Bobby.....both have put a smile on my face!! This day is getting better by the minute!!

Blimey! Now I want to buy you a drink, and find out a little more!!

Hi George! I have been doing this sort of thing for as long as I can remember! Some say I just don't know when to keep my nose out, others view it through slightly kinder eyes! The Street Pastor scheme sounds fabulous!! Really positive.

If I ever emerge from beneath my cloak of anonymity, I'm rather partial to a large glass of red! But I don't think that will be happening anytime soon!

I was out walking the dog one night, when meandering down Whitecross Road I saw a pair of legs sticking out from someone's driveway. I gave the legs a tentative shake, and a rather bleary eyed and confused man attempted to sit up - he was much the worse for wear, had lost his wallet, and his friends it would appear! He lived at Credenhill, so I crossed him over the road, waited with him for the bus, paid the driver his fare and sent him on his way!! It took twenty minutes of my time and the cost of his bus ticket......but the alternative would have been a very cold, very wet and very long night! I often wonder if he recalls any of that night at all!! I suppose I could have rung the police, or even an ambulance......but I chose to use a little bit of that thing called common sense. Works a treat, most of the time!!

I am slightly cynical about alleged long term health issues......ever since John Jarvis stepped down as leader, quoting this as the reason, yet he still manages to claim an exorbitant amount in allowances and expenses.

Interesting to note the speedy disappearance off the "front page" of H.T online, of a story which generated several comments about Bill Norman. And still no mention of the allegations about how certain homes have been allocated. Lots about summer fetes and fundraisers though. So that's OK then.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news......but it ain't looking brilliant for the weekend! You'll have to have a Hyacinth Bucket affair......an "Indoors" barbeque instead!! It will be lovely to have your son down for a visit though, whatever the weather!

What does Herefordshire hope to get out of The Marches LEP?
dippyhippy replied to megilleland's topic in Open Forum
I saw a report on this today also, but there was no specific mention of Hereford....a different programme perhaps? There was a package for Worcester for super fast broadband, lots for Wolverhampton, and a new train station at Alive church. The news reporter did point out that this was all in the run up to the General Election, and that most of the money did appear to have been targeted at projects in areas where the government where keen to either hang on to, or gain an MP. -
We have such a mix of folks, on our street - and I can honestly say they are a great bunch! Some have lived on the street for years and years, other houses seem to change occupiers on a more regular basis. Only the other weekend, I was invited to a football themed barbeque......now given that I'm no lover of either football or barbeque (generally us veggies tend not to fare too well!) I did think about giving it a miss, but it was a hoot! I'm very fortunate now.....but a few years back it was a very different story......neighbours so extremely difficult, I considered selling the house and moving! You can choose your friends, you can avoid your family ( if you need to!) But you're stuck with your neighbours! My only advice would be, extend an olive branch....invite them around for your own gathering, it's always easier to discuss potential problems if you're on good terms already!
