  1. Well said Bilbobobby! A comprehensive and insightful post, which echoes many of my own thoughts on this subject. A great contribution - let's hope you keep on posting!!
  2. Hi Ragwert, there is a topic "Herefordshire Housing to purchase Ship Inn Site" in the Hinton forum, but this only has two replies. I remember there was a thread which covered this subject, which had two pages worth of comments..........not sure if they are one and the same threads, just with the majority of posts missing!
  3. Hooray!!The marigolds in the flowerbed by Sainsbury's traffic lights are now visible again.....can't say that I've noticed that much else has been cut in this area though!
  4. Hi Bambi! That was the gist of my post! The ILF money is being devolved from Central Government to local council, where it will NOT be ring fenced. Therefore, the most vulnerable are once again losing out, as the services they try to access are either being closed, or they have been priced out of using them. It's an absolutely disgusting thing to do, to this sector of our community. I am now a little more cynical when I hear them promising that the vulnerable will be protected. Quite clearly, they are not. Take care!
  5. Hi Bambi, I posted about something similar on the "Government Grants to Councils to Help the Needy" thread. It's in the open forum, and the topic was started by Silent Bull. My post relates to money from the Independent Living Fund being withdrawn. I can't post a handy link, so I hope you can find it.
  6. Apparently it's on page 5. There was two lines pointing to the stories existence, on the front page..... Very poor.
  7. Well.....the Hereford Times is out today. Is this front page news? Don't be daft. Front page news is the couple who won a mock Game of Thrones wedding. Still nothing on line. So really not news worthy then?
  8. Are these generally the opening hours then for these Tesco Express stores?? They aren't 24 hours are they?
  9. "Stealing saffron from Sainsburys..." Just love the alliteration that sentence provides!!
  10. Hi Pete.G! If my memory serves me correctly, I believe when this idea was first being discussed, the costs involved of going with this route(East that is!!) were actually substantially LESS that the link road to nowhere. Several letters were published regarding this over at HT, which prompted quite a lengthy debate! Surely this route, and possibly a rail link at Rotherwas, would be a more sensible option to look at?? I'm not a huge Jesse Norman fan, but this plan does at least seem to be joined up....so credit where it's due!!
  11. Two Wheels, do you know off hand, if the Franklin Building is listed?? I have a vague recollection of hearing that it is....but I could easily have just dreamt this!! And you're quite right about the building strategy....serious questions do indeed need to be asked, it seems chaotic, to put it politely!
  12. Hi Megilleland, I see that Wye Valley Demolition are currently on site at The Buckingham pub, on Whitecross Road, so no doubt the machine that is Tesco will soon be up and running! Also seem to recall reading or hearing the other week that The Cotterill Arms pub, has put in for a change of use from a pub to a house. Two Whitecross pubs gone within 12 months.......The Sunday Circuit will never be the same again.
  13. Interesting, very interesting. Would it not be a better solution to turf Hoople out of the top floor of Plough Lane, (not literally!) to free up space, and let Hoople sort themselves out? It's a ridiculous situation where millions have been spent on one council building....only to have a large proportion of it used to house employees from Hoople......and did we ever get a straight answer as to what, if any rent they are paying to use these all singing all dancing facilities?? Why not send Hoople to the premises above the job centre......after all, recruitment is one of their things....surely that would make more sense???
  14. Anyone catch the news report about Bristol's grass cutting misery?? BBC lunchtime news today. It featured a woman who had fallen into a freshly dug, open grave. The grass all around was so high, she quite literally walked straight into it. Awful experience, I'm sure.
  15. In a perfect world, there would be no war. Neither men or women would have to endure the horrors of front line combat. Sadly our world is far from perfect. I have to say. my personal view point is that women should not fight on the front line....others may disagree!
  16. Fabulous, Bobby! This fighting talk is just what the troups need! By the way, I've just seen Doris over at the garage buying gin and rizlas. She has some brilliant ointment for your testicals, works a treat she said. Every cloud..........!!
  17. Well done Denise! I looked for it earlier after you said you had searched in vain, but couldn't locate it! Glad to see your efforts paid off! Now......just have to peruse it, at my leisure!
  18. I bet he did! I'm also willing to wager that traffic lights were mentioned once or twice! Well done Colin!! As Denise has already asked, is their a link available to have a look at the brochure and questionnaire?
  19. "A snakes' wedding of vested interests..." That phrase could also be used to describe some of the links between folks/companies/council here in Herefordshire! Nice day to be at the coast though!
  20. As yet, still nothing on Hereford Times. Perhaps they are preparing a carefully worded press release......
  21. Evening Roger! Have you considered going down the home brew route?? A whole lot cheaper....... and a whole lot less stressful than navigating the self service tills at Morrison's!!
  22. This is really important! Even one of their infamous one line reports would have at least acknowledged that it's published today. Every person in the county should have an interest in this report. Thanks again, Roger, for the swift posting on here!
  23. Thank you Bobby! That pep talk has worked wonders! I feel ...Brave! And fearless! Empowered even! And with this newly rekindled fighting spirit, when I see that Mr Neill, I'm going to jump up, introduce myself and give him a jolly good telling off......only one problem, would I actually recognise Mr Invisible should he be in front of me in the ten items or less queue?? Probably not! Perhaps that's how he likes it.......??
  24. A real worry, is that thresholds to access many services have been raised. Here, again, we see that many young people referred to CAMHS, are not meeting the "requirements" for help. Where' s the early intervention here? Also of interest, is that in order to reduce social workers caseloads, (an issue hghlighted by the previous 2012 OFSTED) an external company was bought in to shift the back log....in March 2014. Just weeks before OFSTED visited. Some may view this through more cynical eyes than others.
  25. Thanks for posting this up Roger, Hereford Times appear to be ignoring it at present. Perhaps they feel dates for the WI meetings, and Ellie Gouldings performance at Glastonbury are of higher importance....... I still have concerns about the amount of interim / temporary managers that are in place. I thought there was to be a focus on retaining permanent staff, both for front line and key managerial roles. Whilst I am pleased that the picture appears to have improved - let's face it, you can't get much worse than inadequate in every area - there is still much to be done.
