Public Exhibition for South Wye Transport Package.
dippyhippy replied to Glenda Powell's topic in Open Forum
That's right Denise.....consultation runs from the 1st July through to the 3rd, and nobody is allowed a sneaky peek beforehand!!!! Councillor Price may be urging anyone with any interest to take part in this.... but on set days, at set times only!! Three days is all you're allowed!! Perish the thought that ideas may already be floating around....we must wait patiently until we are allowed to comment!! -
If they do choose to do this, then the least I would expect is for a line to be painted, clearly showing where pedestrians can safely walk. This has not been done on Whitecross Road. It also does absolutely nothing to deter folks from continually cycling on the opposite pavement which is considerably narrower. The whole thing is disjointed....bits of green cycle path leading from the Great Western Way onto Whitecross Road, then disappearing...only for a red cycle path to appear on the opposite side of a very busy road, marked in red and on the pavement!! Quite frankly, it's a mess!!

I bet you've got an idea or two Colin!!! -
Parts of the red "cycle path" they put in just a few months ago, are already lifting off by the garage on Whiteceross Road. Not that it was a great idea to put a cycle path actually ON the pavement in the first place.......

I do believe you're right Ragwert! Well spotted!! -
Quite right Two Wheels. You can also add that both Whitecross Road and Grandstand Road are in a terrible condition. Both roads are subject to very heavy daily use. Why oh why can they never get it right???

Government grants for councils to help the needed
dippyhippy replied to silent bull's topic in Open Forum
More bad news for the vulnerable in our community. There has been, for quite some time, a pot of money marked "The Independent Living Fund." This is paid directly to parents / carers of disabled young people, and it does what it says on the tin.....the money is used to pay for much needed respite care, accessing suitable activities, and 1:1 staff to enable the young person to become more independent. This money is a lifeline. From June next year, the government are pulling the plug on this.....the money from this pot will be devolved to local government, where it will NOT be ring fenced.....pretty much like the pot of money for crisis loans it will no doubt disappear into the ether. It certainly will not be benefiting those it was intended to help. I have seen a letter from Bill Wiggins, who contacted the minister of state for disabled people, Mike Penning. I have also seem a letter from him, and it is he who confirms that this is happening. So the next time I hear the mantra....these cuts are being made to protect the vulnerable, I quite simply won't believe it. They are quite literally, robbing them of services, choice, independence and dignity. I am disgusted. -
Nice one Clarkester! Our councillors need to be shouting "Jump!" And Balfour Beatty need to be replying, "How high, and which foot would you like us to land on?" At the moment, the opposite seems to be happening! And how much have these flailing machines cost by the way.......I sincerely hope they aren't going to be an expensive add on to the millions we are already paying them.

Hi Glenda,I'm so pleased you're supporting the market traders bid. I'm concerned about the information you have posted about a possible change of use. Are you saying that the city charter which protects the site as a market, isn't worth the paper it's written on??

We've cut cutting the grass what other ideas have we got
dippyhippy replied to megilleland's topic in Open Forum
I've read them all Ubique. All 201 of them! Yes, all these bright ideas are here.....outsourcing, shared services, reduced grass cutting, selling assets. The turning off of the traffic lights struck me as one of the few things on the list our Council Cabinet haven't implemented!! Typical!!! -

Colin may well be interested in idea number 173.... Reduce the amount of traffic lights! Traffic flow improves, and it saves money! -
Petition: Reverse Decision To Reduce Grass Cutting

I did chuckle to myself earlier. Ventured down to Sainsburys, and on the patch of grass where the cider press and Walenty Pytel sculpture of the woodpecker are sited, a Balfour Beatty truck had pulled up and a chap was merrily watering the marigolds.....oblivious to the fact that they are barely visible to the naked eye because the grass is getting so long!! Soon, the woodpecker will disappear from view! No sign of any grass cutting in and around Tupsley by Balfour Beatty as yet. I went to visit my old Mum yesterday and she's not happy! Not far from her house is a large patch of nettles...the sort Bobby is rather fond of! They are huge....I am 5ft. 4'', and these nettles came up as far as my chin!! Surely some sort of record????- 427 replies

How refreshing! Someone who is willing to put their cards on the table. I would hope that this open approach is welcomed by Hereford Council. Albeit an approach they themselves, aren't overly familiar with!

Good Grief! I think a musical career should be beckoning for this gentleman....something in the wind section perhaps? He certainly seems more than happy blowing his own trumpet, that's for sure! Does this chap seriously believe his own hype? Has he never heard the phrase, "Self praise is no praise"? I know nothing about football.....but I do know a load of guff and twaddle when I read it!

Hi Pete! Welcome to Hereford Voice! Which, do you feel, is the best way forward for the Butter Market?

How incredibly sad. Thirty four is no age at all. Sincere condolences to his family and friends. A great loss to them all.

Some of this info seems to contradict itself, although I am probably not interpreting it properly! In Cambo's post above, point 3, states: "How, if your view is that the buildings function should change,do you see this could be achieved, and ensure that all stakeholders are engaged in the transition?" Whilst in Megilleland post, the information clearly mentions that there is a city charter which protects the site as a market. How would this work then? These two statements do not appear to support each other. I would love the traders to be able to take over the Butter Market. They, more than any other group, would have the best interest of this building at heart. The traders ARE the Butter Market!

Well....it's been sold. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what plans the new owner has for this beautiful building.

Cutting a Public Grass Verge outside your home!

Now C'mon Hinton Hitman! I expected you to be at the forefront of this maverick mowing escapade! The secret strimmers could strike at any time of the day, or night! (And then you could always nip in to The Plough Inn....use their facilities if you just can't wait!) -
I've just watched the report on this on Midlands Today 6.00pm news. A very sad day for all of those fans, who have fought so hard to prevent this from happening.
-
I'd say quite a bit, Two Wheels. A cynical soul, might say they seem hell bent on destroying, demolishing and damaging as much as they possibly can, in the knowledge they'll all be gone next year. Dark days for Herefordshire indeed.
-
Ah! Is that so? That wasn't my source...I'm more face to face than Facebook!! Interesting then, that others have also heard this.
