Petition: Reverse Decision To Reduce Grass Cutting
dippyhippy replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Hi Polly! I think this whole thing has got to be time limited! Personally, I'm all for trying to keep the city looking at it's best for residents and visitors alike....but there needs to be a clear cut off point, as to when the powers that be and Balfour Beatty get their act together. It has to be realistic! I would also heartily endorse Biomechs suggestion on another thread, that all grass cut on a public space should be returned to the council.....drop it off at Brockington, or Plough Lane!- 427 replies

Cutting a Public Grass Verge outside your home!
dippyhippy replied to Wheezerweiner's topic in Open Forum
I do actually like that idea Biomech! I can't bear to see the city looking such a state....if a group such as "The Guerilla Grass cutters" were formed, we could cut the grass in disguise, then dump it out the front of Plough Lane.....a great photo opportunity for a direct protest! Then we could form an orderly queue to use the toilet!! -
I heard a rumour today, that this has been advertised for sale in London, for the past two months. Anybody else heard this??

A good suggestion Two Wheels....certainly one worth following up. I have asked Colin about parts of threads disappearing, and he says he pressed the wrong button when he was adjusting something! He has said he will attempt to rectify it when he returns from Corfu!! That bench looks mighty comfortable to sit down and eat your egg sandwiches......!!!

Afternoon Glenda! I welcome anything that helps to tidy up Our City. I think the point other posters may be making, is that those who already take pride in their areas will most likely be the ones to step forward. Out of interest, what funding are you applying for, and where is it coming from??- 427 replies

Good Grief Ubique! I can't have this! First Bobby, now you....this is an unsettling trend, and one I simply cannot allow to continue! In another week it will be Two Wheels resigning, then Biomech and Megilleland will want to throw the towel in! Flamboyant and GDJ will produce notes from their Mums, excusing them from posting duties, and chaos will reign! This has got to stop! Before we know it, all of the odd bods will have disappeared. No. I'm not having it. I'm putting my foot down.- 427 replies

I see. Well, let's hope that no dog or child is harmed over the weekend. I would have thought getting the warning signs erected as soon as possible, would be a priority?? Particularly given the recent coverage of events.
-
So, the warning signs are now in place are they??
-
This is why I was a little confused Chris! The report in Glenda's post, dated 31st May, so only a matter of days ago, clearly states The Environment Agency are unaware of the blue green algae. I think it's pretty poor to release a statement like that, if at that point they hadn't checked the water. A week later. There's blue green algae. Two hazards?? Or one??
-
A very good full English Breakfast, by all accounts......!!

That final quote, is a very real concern, and should be ringing very loud alarm bells. Outsourcing statutory services, which would include child protection and safeguarding, is an idea that no sane person would endorse. There may be no "fundamental legal barriers" to this proposal, but there sure as hell are moral ones. I had lunch with a retired head teacher recently. His opinion was that this idea should not even be up for discussion.
-
Well done Glenda, for getting them up there for a look! Referring back to your last comment on the previous thread about this, I note in the statement you received, and shared with us, that it states the environmental agency do not routinely check the water. Perhaps they should?? If this isn't linked to the spate of incidents of dogs being poisoned, then it would appear that there have been two serious hazards to health in the past couple of weeks alone??
-
Just about sums it up, Roger!
-
I would agree Megilleland! Having followed your link, I am a tad astonished that Mr Jarvis is still claiming more that £45,000.00!! Remind me why he quit as leader again.......!!

Afternoon Mr.Hitman !! I was most interested to read the letter you posted on the grass cutting thread. Circa 2008....!! I'm sure this is just one example of The Journal publishing what HT would not!!
-
Isn't this the exact same letter that Harry sent to Smartieno1, that Cambo posted up for us to see?? So who did write it then?? Certainly not either of them I'm betting!

Afternoon Megilleland.....following on from your 20/20 post, I'd say our cabinet have definitely lost focus, and are more than a little short sighted. If Gloucester and Oxford think this is going to be the answer to all their prayers...they should visit Hereford and see Joint Working Partnerships in action - that's if they can actually find Hereford, soon the only landmark above the grass will be The Cathedral !! And as all roads that lead here are pot holed, it may not be the most enjoyable away day!!- 427 replies

Vicious Assault near Hereford Rugby Club 1 AM 31.05.14
dippyhippy replied to Roger's topic in Police & Crime
Always good to get a speedy response! I still feel though, that even an "abridged" report should contain the most important facts, and in this case, that should be as full a description as possible!! -
Hi Magic! This isn't really "shared space". To be shared space, there would be no traffic lights for a starter! Drivers still have their eyes on the lights, rather than the pedestrians or cyclists around them. I too have found the staggered crossing an issue....folks just think they can wander across from the middle bit, without moving along to the next pedestrian crossing. Not sure how I feel about this, but I have seen it happen...when emergency vehicles are trying to get through, cars are pulling straight over into the beige middle bit. This is great for those trying to get past at speed, but with folks wandering up and down this stretch, I do think it could be an accident waiting to happen.
