  1. Oh Wow. Perfectly manicured! I bet he's got a ride on mower....and a minion to operate it! Yes, we are all in it together.....but some of us are "in it" in very comfortable surroundings......
  2. Thanks Two Wheels, I didn't think the Shire Hall refurb costs could have been lumped in with this! Much of Plough Lane is still given over to Hoople staff, is it not?? I don't suppose they will pay anything towards this....why would they?? Yet council staff have now been squeezed into the media building on Bath Street, and from what I am told, not very successfully!
  3. Evening Roger! Is that the reason then?? I always thought that posters were responsible for the content of their posts, and as such could/should be taken to task for anything that breaches the law of the land!! I was under the impression that comments weren't enabled on stories which could prejudice any potential trial. I remember Fffiona herself once posting a comment blasting "irresponsible"posters, when it was all kicking off with those two random stabbings in Hereford. The "irresponsible"pair?? Megilleland and myself!! Neither of us irresponsible posters, in my humble opinion!! Megilleland had supplied a link to another news source, who had covered events with far more information than HT, and I had read it, and commented that I had done so! Since that time, more and more stories do not have comments enabled it seems!
  4. Corfu eh?? Lucky Colin! Hope you're having a great time.......the weather here has been a tad on the wet side! Don't apologise for hitting the wrong button.......look how many errors would occur if I was ever left in charge of button pressing!!
  5. Hi Flam, I think.....capital budget, is used for big, long term projects....think the new archive building that sort of thing. The revenue budget is money raised by the council, think council tax, parking fines etc. I'm sure another poster will be able to give a more indepth explanation!! No clue about decant budget!!!
  6. Yes....I am a little perplexed at why so many threads have been archived???? The "time" has also gone....which I found quite useful!! It amuses me to see what Biomech has posted at three in the morning!! And of course, the mystery as to the whereabouts of 5 pages of comments and links, on the "You Don't Deserve Democracy" thread.....they have all been erased bar 3 or 4!! Colin....is there a gremlin in the system????
  7. I recall reading that council tax accounts for 25% of the councils incoming money. According to these figures, That's 81 million. Which would make 81 million = 25%,192 million = 50% and 284 million = 100% Sooooo.......another 243 million???? But factor in "council maths" and it's anybody's guess !!!
  8. This is a great comment from Little white bull, I hope he reads this...and signs up on here!!
  9. Surely when the police are trying to find the perpetrators of an attack such as this, it's important that as full a description of the suspects as possible, is given to the public?? It matters not one jot whether accents are local, Irish, East European, Brummie or Welsh.....it forms part of that description. The police have released this information, and are asking for the publics assistance. By not releasing all of the relevant information, the HT are in effect, with holding facts which could identify the attackers.
  10. Hi LBJournal, So sorry to hear that you are amongst the staff who have lost their jobs. I would hope that with 21 years experience, your expertise will be recognised by a future employer, and you will soon find yourself back in work. Really hope you can enjoy your well deserved holiday, and that life takes an upward turn.
  11. Oh Roger!! Look, it's been done....it looks much better!! Just be pleased that it has made a positive difference to our city!! Even if they did have to buy a permit, they haven't mentioned it, so obviously don't view that as an issue! Now!! Step away from The Quarry!!
  12. Good Grief! I do believe he's attempting to take the moral high ground with that dig at IOC and the In dependants!
  13. Grrr! I can't work the edit thing properly! What I wanted to add, was that this would be more than fair, in my humble opinion, as many of us now have an increase in garden waste, from mowing verges on behalf of the council!!
  14. So now we are all up to speed! The council are broke, and we are all feeling the pinch! Would it not be a good idea at this point, for the council to stop insisting we buy only their green bags for our garden waste to be removed?? At least this would be of some help!
  15. Oooh!! A yellow warning sticker! How very exciting! What does it warn you will happen?? I have never received one of these, and am a little curious to know what the consequence could be, should you break the recycling rules!!
  16. A sort of check mate. We are, I feel, backed into a corner with this! We have to do something.....and they know it! Good to see Coln's petition has now had more than 2,200 signatures.......let's hope this same people still feel as strongly next year, it's one thing to sign an online petition from the comfort of your sofa, quite another to drag your backside off it and go and vote!
  17. Well.....I gave it a try! For me, it's lacking in the delivery department! Not "punchy" enough to hold my albeit very short, concentration span! Not quite enough pigswill.....and short measured on the codswallop! A valiant effort...but not up to B47's standards........!!
  18. I really like the Journal! I think it's a great shame that we are losing what is, the only "competition" the HT effectively has. It's free, it's delivered to your door, and very often it contains more info than you get from the HT. A sad day for all those folks who face losing their jobs.
  19. Appalling. Once again, they ride rough shod over our rights, in order to appease a multi national company. We are an island. One day, we may just disappear back under the waves.
  20. Very interesting Megilleland! As many of us already know, there is absolutely NO transparency here, when it comes to pay offs and gagging clauses. Its simply a case of trotting off to the next trough!
  21. Actually.....when I wrote "what other options are there?" One option should be to renegotiate the contract with Balfour Beatty.............
  22. Afternoon Biomech!! I agree! We shouldn't have to. Local businesses shouldn't have to. The council should have tightened their belts a long time ago, and stopped being so frivolous with our money. Unfortunately, this is where we are right now. Perhaps it's just me, but I can't bear to see our once beautiful city fall into such a state of decline, which is why I welcome any initiative to get Hereford looking back to its best. Its far from ideal, but in the short term.....what other options are there?? I am hoping that we the public will hold them accountable when placing a cross on the ballot paper next May!
  23. Twelve months ago Flam, my money would have been on Our Graham Powell. He was always the first to be wheeled out for a photo opportunity, usually in his lovely rain coat, ideal attire for these current weather conditions! Now, my money would be on Harry. He definitely needs the PR more than most. Even more than Pat Morgan quite an achievement in itself! I wouldn't bet on the CEO........nobody would have a clue who it was!
