  1. Thanks Megilleland! Much appreciated! Two Wheels, if they cut out the wafflle, jargon and buzz words, they could probably have edited it down considerably!
  2. Hi again Stupid Frustration! Oh, we are so singing from the same hymn sheet on this one!! Unfortunately, the sad fact remains that money IS still being wasted. That is what sticks in my throat more than anything.
  3. Hi Roger! I honestly think Jim has done a good job organising this! I know we've already paid for this, I know it goes against the grain......but the place is a mess! I so wish some of the other big businesses would, just for the next year or two, take responsibility for areas close to them! Sun Valley could do Yazor Road, Grandstand Road. Bulmers, could Whitecross Road, Wyevale, could take on Kings Acre, B and Q, a few of the roundabouts! As much as this is our community, it's also theirs, and not a great advert for them the way it's looking at the moment! And yes, I know businesses also pay out.......but if the council won't...we have to do something! ( Next year of course we can do something else... with our votes at the ballot box!) I KNOW it shouldn't be like this, but it is. We have to do something, or we'll all disappear!!
  4. Hi Two Wheels! It's got to the stage where I am just not surprised anymore......if a plan makes no sense whatsoever, then obviously this is the plan that we will be following! Beyond ridiculous.
  5. Ah Stupid Frustration! It's always nice to partly agree on an agreement!! One of my bug bears is the cost of sending Hereford children to out of county residential placements. We have a great deal of expertise locally, particularly in the field of providing education to children with SEN. Some of those children may also have extremely challenging behaviour. This can make managing them safely at home very difficult, and understandably, some families are placed under an intolerable strain. When a situation has reached the point, when the child's needs cannot be met, and a residential placement needs to be found, invariably it is miles away. This makes sustaining relationships difficult to say the least. . It can cost up to £250,000, per year per placement. Why have we not got this sort of provision here? Why would it not make sense, to use one of these "surplus to requirements" buildings, and staff it ?? .I know I have over simplified things to make a point, but if you have half a dozen young people, requiring this level of care and support, surely it makes sense - both financially, and for the families involved - to be able to access this here, rather than pay millions to other authorities?? Apologies to all, I think I may have gone off topic!!!
  6. Hmmm. I'm sure it could have been put to better use.......
  7. Hi Stupid Frustration......I agree with you to a point!! Yes, we are absolutely broke. Yes, we have to accept that the services we are used to are going to be reduced. I would add, that the services we do receive, have to be prioritised. i.e.. Adult/ Children's Services and Safeguarding. BUT! With no money in the pot, and the taxpayer having reduced services, why is it that the question " How many people have received pay rises since the restructuring process began?" remains unanswered........ I don't take issue with cuts in service when the purse is empty, but I do take issue when the council seem to find a little bit stashed away, and use it to increase the pay of managers!
  8. Excuse my ignorance, but I am not at all familiar with this school building, once it was demolished was the site it stood on built on again? Or has it been designated for parking? Or extra outside space for sport??
  9. As far as I am aware Magic, nobody has heard anything! Silence......the calm before the storm!!!!
  10. As I understand it, the council have prioritised road repairs over more or less anything else that BB were/are doing. In order for MORE money to be spent in this area, LESS (much less !) will be spent in other areas. i.e. cutting the grass. Kind of like robbing from one bit of the budget, to fund another!
  11. There was a report on this on the lunchtime news on BBC Midlands Today. Only caught the last minute, but I expect it will be covered again on the 6.00pm programme.
  12. Stranger things have happened Cambo......and in Bobby's world, the stranger the better!!! Wherever he is, he'll have a pint in his hand!!
  13. Hotel California?? I had the same thought Two Wheels! Maybe this time next year, when we have reason to celebrate, we'll get a celebratory post from him! Lukio even reappeared briefly at H.T, when Jarvis suddenly quit! Imagine the euphoria when the entire cabinet gets the heave ho? Our Bobby won't be able to resist!
  14. I'm afraid it's true Cambo. King Bobby has abdicated. Blogging will never be the same!!
  15. Hey Clarkester! Long time, no hear. Thanks for leaving a message - thanks to you all! Personally, I think Our Bobby has penned a spectacular script called "The Tappers". Based loosely on the blogs of a few rather mendacious oddities, it will tell the tale of how persistent moaning and groaning finally paid off!! His agent has flogged the movie rights , and Bobby is on his way to tinsel town to have the final say on casting. Of course, the great and the good are jostling for the chance to play Bobby.....DeNiro himself is said to want this role more than anyone! Not quite the queue to play Jarvis or Bramer, but hey, every great story needs a few villains! So grab yourselves a bg of scratchings, and brace yourselves to appear on the big screen!!
  16. Please use this thread, to add your own personal message. Mine is.....I know I still owe you a pint, don't worry...the next round will be on me!
  17. We all know him, we all know his inimitable writing style. He is the King of the posters. Now, sadly, Bobby has decided to retire from blogging, and has asked me to let you all know. It won't be the same without him. For me personally, reading his regular diazepam fuelled rants in the Hereford Times, inspired me to start blogging, and over the past few years we have posted alongside each other many, many times. He created a world which we were all able to join in with. From humble beginnings kneading dough, he then went on to dig for Studmarsh, (in the wrong place!) Then it was dalliances with Liz Hurley, and on occasion ,Shane Warne! From wearing his Granny's dress, to firing Jarvis from a cannon, he wrote it.....and we loved it!! He will never be replaced upon these pages. So Bobby, I trust you will read this, whilst stuffing your fat face with pork rind and avoiding the wife's frying pan, I just want to say "Thankyou" for all the laughs over the past few years. I am so happy to be able to call you a friend. If you ever change your mind.....we'll still be here!!
  18. There was until recently one on Roman Road. This closed after many years due to lack of money. St. Peters church hall opens its doors to overnight stays over the Christmas / New Year period I believe. This is also the place for Open Door. Where folks can get a cooked meal. The SHYPP project has a list of emergency accommodation for younger people, usually I think, the 16 to 25 age group. These can be rooms in houses where people have agreed to take in someone at short notice. Now my lot have grown up and flown the nest, this is actually something me and the other half are thinking about doing. We have a spare room, so why not??
  19. Glad you've managed to get back on your feet Ragwert. I don't think many people realise just how quickly this situation can arise. Often through no fault. Circumstances can change so rapidly, and folks find themselves homeless. I'm so pleased things have improved for you.
  20. I would absolutely echo that sentiment, Denise! We need to take every opportunity to remind folks of all the misdeeds, dodgy deals, and bare faced lies we have all suffered, at the hands of this calamitous cabinet. They all need to go. Jim, on the other hand, is a top bloke. I wish he was my ward councillor!
  21. Just to let you good folks know.... We returned from Hay yesterday evening, and as the weather was dry for once, rather than take the main road, we came the back way through Bredwardine. At the junction which brings you out onto the main Hereford to Brecon Road, we attempted to turn right towards Hereford. The verges here are SO overgrown, you virtually have to be halfway across the road before you can see clearly. This is really dangerous, and needs to be sorted. On a Saturday evening, the traffic was light. On another day, at a different time, it will be a very different story.
  22. Absolutely! Hope you and Mrs Ubique are enjoying your weekly glass of red wine!! You sound rather mellow in your post......!!
  23. I have already come to terms with the fact that I shall never be fabulously wealthy, but if I can, at some point, tick the other two boxes, I would still consider that a success! As the Mighty Meatloaf once said..."Two out of three, ain't bad!"
  24. Its probably me Megilleland, but could you check that link?? When I click on it, nothing is happening!!
