  1. There are a lot of posters with similar names, over at HT. Wyecider and Wyesider are incredibly similar, and there are lots of Mr Hereford/Mr Herefordian Herefordian07 etc. I can't see HT banning a contributor just because they have opted for this name. It is different, if only by a little bit! Most regular readers/posters will have spotted the difference immediately.....I honestly don't think this is a conspiracy!
  2. It's a view that I tend to agree with!
  3. Well done, gdj! (And no, Osmosis - to my albeit, untrained eye - I can't see a reason why this would require being run past the legal team.) From Wikipedia..... "During the parliamentary expenses enquiry, The Daily Telegraph reported that Wiggin had wrongly claimed more than £11,000. mortgage payments on his Herefordshire property. This property had no mortgage. Wiggin made 23 declarations that this was his main home, and said the claims were made in error." (So that's 23 errors made then????) "The committee found that Wiggin's mortgagee claims were an 'unfortunate and unintended muddle', They also expressed disappointment that Wiggins had not been cooperative with the enquiry, as required by The Code of Conduct. His claim for household bills were also investigated following a complaint by Mr Miller.Wiggin 'chose not to' take up the Committee's invitation to check his expenses with his bank and service providers. In October 2010, Wiggin apologised to The House, and was ordered to repay £4009.utility expenses." Hmmm. And now he's paid to offer financial advice?????
  4. Absolutely. Anyone remember the Jim Miller episode? When he had the temerity to question/ complain about Mr Wiggins expenses, Mr Wiggins response was to call him a "troublemaker" then added that "his time would be better spent finding a job, than pursuing a vendetta". Then he enquired whether Jim was "on benefits". Jim Miller had wanted to stand against Bill Wiggins, the year prior to this, as an Independent, anti - sleaze candidate. Bill Wiggins put a stop to this , after he personally contacted the Returning Officer to complain about Jim's election leaflets. There was so, so much more.... but very little coverage in HT. There was, however, considerable interest from The Telegraph. (No handy link, as usual... but Google "The Telegraph MP's Expenses - Bill Wiggins questioned by Parliamentary Sleaze Watchdog" and you'll find the full story.) It would be great to think we'd reached a point where HT reporting on "Conservative" issues, was less slanted in their favour.
  5. Thanks for that post, Osmosis. Interesting stuff. I'm very pleased to hear that plans are afoot for HT to start scrutinizing our two conservative MP's. For what seems like forever, very little - apart from what they want printed - has made it into the paper/on line. Perhaps the new editor is going to take a more robust view? And not pander to them.... This has got to be a better way forward. I take on board your comments about something being a little "fishy" re the reasons for pulling this story..... we'll soon know won't we?? If the more detailed up dated story doesn't materialize! Meanwhile....I remain hopeful, that this could be a positive step! Let's keep our fingers crossed!
  6. Managing Director! Good grief. (Kudos to Jess for reporting it!)
  7. I saw this story this morning, but couldn't comment on it as I didn't have time. Just got in from work, and it's vanished! I thought I'd dreamt it up.....! Very interesting that yet again, HT seem to have bowed to pressure to not only delete comments, but have withdrawn the complete article. I have absolutely no concerns about Bill's impartiality..... however, whether what he writes ends up being published remains to be seen. He's a pretty tenacious character, I can't see him putting up with being "directed" as to what stories he should or shouldn't cover. (That surely would go against the journalistic grain?) A real concern that our local paper has opted to go down this path. I do recall that the story stated that "Mr Wiggins did not respond to the Hereford Times' request for a response." Hmm. Sounds like 'somebody' responded after reading it, and the comments it generated....
  8. Absolutely GK. Terry, agree completely. Home, health and family. Those are the things that hold true value. This is what I cherish the most. (Wow, indeed. This subject is really generating some interest now!)
  9. Useful information there, Ubique. Thanks for sharing..... and lovely to hear from you again. Happy New Year, to you and Mrs Ubique!
  10. Desperate, isn't it, how money can rip families apart....
  11. I've just realised that this is in fact, the West Mercia Lodge No 9719, as mentioned in an earlier post..... Further in the article "The Commons Select Committee ran an inquiry into Freemasonry in 1998-1999...." They recommended a voluntary register of police officers, judges, probation officers and Crown Prosecution Services staff.... An MP on the committee, said the register should be mandatory and public..... is it????
  12. I've just read an interesting article about police and the masons..... The Independent- Police defy force with Masonic Lodge. (Apologies for the lack of a handy link...!). Quote. " Senior police officers have defied official disapproval, and established a new Masonic Lodge, despite widespread public fears about the influence of the secret society on the criminal justice system." It's quite dated - June, 2000 - but is about a joint lodge for Shropshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire. (Knowing very little about this subject, I decided to Google, as you do!)
  13. That's more like it! I knew you'd be able to add to this!
  14. Hello Roger, I hope you don't mind me saying, but I don't feel your posts are particularly helpful, in this instance! Terry has already explained his association with Mr Dunwoody, and the circumstances of how and where they met. Aside from the advice that Terry has taken on board from him, he has very little to do with this thread. Why do we need to delve into this?? I think this is going well off track! (Happy New Year, by the way!)
  15. Blimey! I had to do a double take!
  16. Incredible life. Incredible man. R.I.P
  17. "It's been going on for more than three months", Diligaf? True.... The River Island fire was more than five years ago! Considerably longer than a couple of months!
  18. Your comments read fine! Don't worry! Very often it takes a little while for threads to fill up.... in all honesty, you only need one person to read it - one with some ideas on how best to pursue this, so don't feel disheartened. Give it a little time. I'm always happen to listen, and throw my two pence worth in..... just sorry that this isn't an area I've got much experience in. So I'm afraid I'm not much use!
  19. I had a feeling you'd probably ticked these boxes already! I'm sorry I can't be much help. Perhaps other members may have some suggestions as to the best way forward? Keep us in the loop. Good luck in your quest. Dippy (One final thing, Terry, this thread has barely been up for 24 hours, and has over 700 page views. Your story is certainly generating interest.)
  20. As an afterthought, have you thought about approaching your MP, or possibly a local councillor? Or perhaps a local journalist may be interested in helping you?? - Forgive me if these are avenues you have already explored - It is a very intriguing set of circumstances. Whatever your decision, don't forget about the positives you now have in your life. They are truly worth so much. Take care.
  21. It's most definitely not too much to ask for, Terry. I'm no expert, but perhaps go with your gut instinct as to which thread of this tangled web you want to start unpicking first. To try to confront them all at once will only overwhelm you. I do hope you have the support of your partner, because you'll need to ensure that you don't become so wrapped up in this, that you end up becoming consumed by it. Should that happen, once again your life will be impacted. You sound very determined, I just hope that if you do continue, you can find someone who can advise you on the best course to follow. Sending my warmest regards to you.
  22. Absolutely tragic news. I'd hoped he would be found safe and well. Thoughts are with the family at this incredibly difficult time.
  23. Hello again, Terry. Difficult to know where to begin, isn't it? There are a number of issues which may or may not be related. Break it down, and tackle things one issue at a time. It's always worth picking your battles. Just take a moment though, to ask yourself whether you're absolutely certain about this. It will no doubt take an emotional as well as financial toll on you and your family. Everybody wants to see wrongs righted, and to know that justice has been done.... but weigh up where you are in the here and now, then if you still want to proceed, continue. There isn't an easy answer. Sending you my best wishes.
  24. Apologies, Frank. That was just a general thought on my part, and certainly not directed specifically at you! I should have made that clearer in my post.
  25. Well as the resident leftie on this thread, I shall just reiterate part of my earlier post regarding this.... "Clearly whatever their race or immigration status, what has happened is completely unacceptable." Personally, I don't defend the indefensible. I also find that tarring all with the same brush is never helpful.
