  1. That closed door remains firmly shut then.
  2. With regard to planning objections - if you lived nearby, surely the three storey tower they have planned would have a detrimental impact? Both visually, and given the training scenarios, environmentally if they are setting fire to it on a regular basis at the end of someone's garden! The actual design of this building does not fit the bill of "enhancing a conservation area."
  3. Are we going to look at "previous " organisations, such as ESG and Advantage West Midlands, who have ended, then like a phoenix, have risen from the ashes, with a brand new name but the same old faces???
  4. How could I have missed this??? I shall have to catch up on the i-player thingy! Sounds as if it went really well.......!!!....but I don't expect the good folks who organise Ludlow Food Festival, will be quaking in their boots, at this public announcement that Nando's have arrived!
  5. "Specific, restricted occasions" is the exact wording Roger, so I remain hopeful that my trusty tambourine would be welcome.....!!
  6. Tee Hee! There's no way P. Morgan, H.Bramer, T. Johnson or J. Jarvis will ever make it onto my Christmas card list! Never! They'll not get one of my fairly traded cards!
  7. Oooh! Perhaps they have finally decided to embrace "Openness"........ But I doubt it.....!! No, they'll be more to it than that. And whatever it is, I probably won't like it!
  8. Evening Ubique! Thanks so very much for your kind words, but honestly I do not deserve to be singled out for praise! The diligent diggers and researchers are the backbone of this, and its very much a team effort! All I do is link this thread together, and try to encourage folk to keep posting their nuggets of information.....which you have also kindly provided! A few months ago, someone asked me the question, "Do you care what happens to The Boys Home?" My answer was, and still is, Yes I Do......I am just so very glad that so many others feel the same way, and have taken the time to contribute to this thread. It's me, who needs to thank you lovely lot, for sticking with this, and giving this subject the support it deserves. So......Thanks Everybody!
  9. I would agree, but is it close enough to "The historic, medieval core"??
  10. Some lovely little gems contained within this link, Flam. Basically, they want to do very little! I have no problem with some services being reduced IF priority services such as children's safeguarding, and adult social care, were being brought back up to scratch. At the end of the day, only statutory services have to legally be maintained, and even they may not be delivered as they once were. The poor, the disabled, the elderly and the needy will be let down badly. As a society, I am all for us getting stuck in, and helping out......however, when I still see so much money being needlessly wasted, it does kind of stick in my throat. One day, things will get better. I am sure of that. But we may have to brace ourselves for a long wait.
  11. Wahey! This gets better......in today's legal notices in The Journal, they have also applied for a license for live music! Brilliant! Bobby, grab your guitar, I shall bring my trusty tambourine.....I can feel an acoustic version of Kum By Yah coming on!! All together now..... Someone's lying Lord, Kum By Yah........ ( That verse may well be dedicated to Harry!)
  12. The new one, out the back of the Butter Market!
  13. Excellent reporting from Bill Tanner! Well done to this lady for refusing to allow this to happen. When will this cabinet realise that they cannot just keep riding roughshod over folks? I have posted before about the horrendous smell which floats across from Sun Valley. I absolutely appreciate that they are one of this counties biggest employers, but nothing is ever done about it.....and for a vegetarian it's even more unpleasant!! It would appear that it's always one rule for big business and another for the little guy. Nice to see that David beat Goliath on this occasion!
  14. Brilliant Maao! Gave me a chuckle!
  15. I think a poster said there were toilets in Waitrose.....I don't think there are any public toilets as such, although I seem to recall a poster(Two Wheels possibly??) Saying there were some shown on the original plans......but I may have got that wrong, my memory is dreadful, and most days I find it harder and harder to distinguish between reality and some very vivid dreams I have on a nightly basis!!
  16. I'd absolutely agree with that, Cambo.....not a good look for anybody!
  17. I would have to say a big Well Done to Jim, and also the City Council. The closure of public toilets has been a huge issue, and to get these up and running again, is really positive news!
  18. Rat poison?? Jesus, that's completely irresponsible. What on earth is wrong with people? It was only a few weeks ago that there was a thread about cats being deliberately harmed.
  19. They bend over backwards for multi national companies.....giving away valuable land and all sorts of shenanigans. Yet when it comes to finding suitable locations for, it seems, all three emergency services, they make life as difficult as possible. It's not right.
  20. I think a lot of this is covered by GDJ's excellent post on the Hoople thread. The folk who NEED to understand the intricacies of this document, actually don't. Surely there is enough expertise within this county, to give an unbiased breakdown of facts.....in a language we can ALL understand!
  21. Its a ridiculous situation. This ties in with what the ambulance service said, when some years ago , all three emergency services were looking at creating an "emergency hub." As I have posted previously, one location looked at then was up by where B and Q is now. If they have been thwarted at every turn, its little surprise we find ourselves in this sorry situation.
  22. Two Wheels! I find that absolutely staggering, that the national policy is only 49 pages long, and our county of Herefordshire requires thousands!! Producing this document must have kept a lot of folk earning a lot of money for quite some time... Honestly, the comparison between the two, is a real eye opener.
  23. Dave Benjamin was my ward councillor. Hugely likeable, and much missed. I am truly saddened by this news GK. It shows a complete lack of thought, and a lot of disrespect. I would hope that this situation can, and will, be rectified.
  24. Excellent post, Magic! Many thanks for posting this, and if you are able to post this redacted "survey" for us all to have a look at, that would be brilliant!
