    Hoople

Evening Roger!! The Opinion Piece, hardly ever gets put on line! HT do not appear to want to read our thoughts on their "opinion".....I find this strange to say the least! (Networking time........??? If only! I barely get lunch time!!)

    Hoople

I would have added this to the previous Hoople thread, started by Bobby - but it has been "archived" and comments no longer allowed??. Colin, if you would like to merge this thread with Bobby's, please feel free!

    Hoople

Anyone else read this weeks offering from Fffiona?? Over at HT, this weeks opinion piece thinks we should all cut Hoople some slack! The "Organisation is an asset to the county" and more specifically, "Hoople's figures add up." The rapid rise in popularity of "council maths" will soon see it being delivered in classrooms across the country!
  4. Tee Hee! I read this.....and I thought of you Colin!!
  5. Absolutely Aylestone Voice! And as we know from Two Wheels post on another thread, the Fire Service ARE prepared to wait! We need to all be singing from the same hymn sheet.....object on the grounds of poor design in a conservation area. ( Whilst crossing our fingers, and silently praying that the Bus Station site may get pushed to the fore!)
  6. Cambo.....you are a star! Now....check your messages please!!
  7. Flam, that comment, re the rumour about new houses been allocated to staff.....you need to post that on Bobby's thread....."The things you hear down the pub." The points you raise, need to be viewed within the context of that thread!! Keep on posting!!
  8. Just a thought.....not sure if this is applicable now. A few years back, if you held a "key" public sector role, and were struggling to find affordable accommodation, I think you were given extra "points", or whatever is awarded in the queueing system to obtain housing. "Key" roles, included nurses, teachers, firefighters and police officers. So for example, if you lived in an area where they were struggling to recruit/retain staff from these key areas, such as teaching staff, they may be given a helping hand. I seem to remember the rules applying to this were pretty stringent!
  9. Having had an in depth conversation with an advanced paramedic about this, the feeling on the front line seems to be that management did not/would not listen when many concerns were voiced about closing smaller stations, and creating one central "hub" in Hereford. The increase in demand for emergency ambulances is well documented, it doesn't take a genius to work out that response times in a rural area are going to be affected. Whilst WMAS have put in community paramedics, they can respond, but nine times out of ten still need to call for back up. You cannot transport someone with a broken pelvis in a car, you need an ambulance. If someone who lives up three flights of stairs is having a cardiac arrest, you need two trained staff....to administer the medical help required, and physically get them out! Therefore, the call for back up goes out, and you then have a community paramedic and a two crew ambulance attending. This ties up 2 resources. How can this make sense?
  10. Two Wheels, that is extremely interesting - they WOULD be prepared to wait a couple of years for a better site! The bus station, obviously! Ticks all the boxes...if we could just get them to acknowledge that this would be a preferred position......
  11. The councils answer to everything seems to be "Rip it up, chop it down. New is better." Never mind the history. Never mind the character. Never mind the heritage. Has anybody seen today's Journal? The old primary school at Staunton on Wye, has been given a second chance. It will be converted into much needed assisted living apartments for the elderly. Constructed in 1860, the building is in such a state of disrepair, that it is said it could not withstand another winter. It stands in what in 1994, was designated a conservation area. It was listed in 1997. Virtually ALL of the main building will be retained and restored. What a great pity, a development opportunity such as this, has not been thought of for The Boys Home.....in a far more visible, and central location.
  12. Blimey Roger! I remember that one well! Chaos, doesn't even begin to describe it!
  13. Evening Roger! At this late stage, all publicity is good publicity! Thanks Cambo for posting this info......Mark, hope you are soon feeling better!
  14. Errr....why does this story appear on the front page as if I started this thread??? I am a tad confused!
  15. Beyond ridiculous. This whole situation has my blood boiling, Megilleland! Roll on next May......
  16. "Only do this if you are able bodied" says Roger...... Only do this if you are sober, says Dippy!! This sounds like a recipe for "24 hours in A and E!!"
  17. That, Harry, is music to my ears!!
  18. Thanks Colin, your help and support mean a lot!
  19. Megilleland! That's great news! Hopefully you will get a response soon! Word has reached me, that a reporter from local radio is keen to cover this.....brilliant publicity for this campaign! And a big thanks to Colin. Without Hereford Voice, we could not have got this up and running!!
  20. Psst !! Megilleland! Over here! Listen very carefully,I shall say this only once. This is a ruse! Some of us rather odd, mendacious types have worked out that it will take 23 days to dig a tunnel and emerge in the cabinet meeting room at Brockington! Cunningly disguised in Western Power overalls, and a couple of spare balaclavas from the Harry Bramer knit-a-thon, we intend to take them by surprise, and keep them there until our demand to save The Working Boys Home is met!! We may not stop there - this could be a fully blown coup! But, Sshhh!! Keep it to yourself!
  21. Oooh!! Role play! How extremely exciting! Book me a place......it sounds like a great day out!
  22. Good point Two Wheels! I would be interested to know where other towns/cities with medieval centres, have their fire stations positioned! Stratford springs to mind, and I am sure that I read a while back that a poster used to live there....if they read this, post and let us know!!
  23. Bobby, your recruitment techniques cannot be faulted! With systems in place like that, it's no wonder you are scooping HT with all these stories!
