  1. Has anybody heard when the parking meters are due to be installed? Or are they still in "consultation" mode??
  2. Another thing! Who is going to want to do their weekly food shop in Waitrose, with these sort of charges? The weekly food shop is one of those times when you do need to have the car parked relatively close to the store, as the bags are heavy.....and sometimes fragile if you don't pack the red wine very carefully! One thing we have plenty of in Hereford is supermarkets......and this will be the most expensive to access! Please don't say "Why Dippy! Simply buy online and get it delivered!" Because we all know that will never happen!
  3. I take it this story doesn't have comments enabled over at HT? That's absolutely fair enough.....what annoys me, is that comments probably still won't be enabled after the verdict has been reached.
  4. Innocent until proved guilty, would be my take on it.
  5. Good Grief!!! £7.05 For a Veggie Beanie Wrap!! I think not. I shall stay with Nutters!!
  6. Just popped over to HT, to see the online comments! Another news headline caught my eye......I see Ubique thinks myself and Bobby should be nominated to open Debenhams!!! That's the funniest thing I've read in ages!
  7. Hells Bells! 24 hours a day?? At these prices, it will be empty for most of the time! Going to the cinema, is not a cheap night out anyway. Factor in the parking charges, I can't see many folk wanting to hang around and stay for a meal......when the cost of parking is increasing hour by hour!
  8. Local people will not pay these extortionate parking charges. Visitors, curious to see "The Only New Shopping Centre To Be Opened In 2014", will come once. They will not return.....!!
  9. Please tell me that neon illuminated monstrosity isn't what is being built????
  10. Good Gracious! Thanks for the link to the article, Roger - most informative!
  11. We seem to have quite a few bookies in Hereford. Am I correct in thinking there is a limit in place?
  12. The bottom line really, is they just don't care. When I say "they", I suppose I just mean Mr Bramer....as he seems to be the only one whose opinion matters. Why should he care? Having just sold one of his properties for three million quid, its obvious that he doesn't live on the same planet as the rest of us. I wonder if he would "swap" his property, for one just down the round. Half the size, and worth half the money??? I mean, if its "best value" for us.....?????
  13. This is just so wrong. One man should not have all this power. Where are the checks and balances, that should be in place??
  14. If Sanctuary Housing ever get around to building their vision of an "Urban Village" on the Merton Meadow site, then I guess that cheap, long stay parking will disappear altogether. This will have a huge impact on city centre workers, many of whom will not be on much more than the minimum wage. I wonder if staff parking is available at the OLM?? After all, with the well publicised "1000 Jobs" that have been created, they too, will need to park somewhere! As usual, the figures just don't add up!
  15. Well, it's going to be quite big!! I hear that Phase 8, one of the shops that used to be here, is opening up within Debenhams....so that's another one that won't be back anytime soon! By the way, Roger.....it's not just the "old folks" who aren't that great at using t'interweb!! I'm worse than useless!!
  16. I see in HT, that Paddy Power have applied for a gambling license for 11, 12 and 13 St Peters Square.....its in the Public Notices section. Whilst its good that premises don't stand empty.....it's not exactly a retail attraction is it??
  17. Well, well, well!! I wonder if HC were aware of this?? Were they offering sites which they knew would be rejected?? This whole situation appears to be almost orchestrated....so that both HC and H&WFA get exactly what they want, whilst trying to show that they have looked at alternative places. As for Jonathan Bretherton, I can only say......" It is so hard, in the space of just 600 words, to list all of Hereford Futures monumental cock-ups.....but I shall endeavour to keep on reminding folks!"
  18. Three million quid?? Have I read that right, Cambo........Three MILLION quid ?? Hells Bells!! You can buy an awful lot of balaclavas with that sort of money!!
  19. Genuinely sorry to hear this, Mark - but I understand your reasons! As you say, there are still 12 months left.....plenty of time to cause mayhem!! I wish you well, in whatever you do next...........and hope whoever fills your space is half as great a councillor as you have been!
  20. Thanks so much Megilleland! You're always coming to the rescue, and it's always much appreciated!
  21. I agree, it would be very interesting! As with most things, the criteria folks have to meet tor accessing crisis loans have changed. It's not a straightforward process, and having an assessment by no means guarantees that you will be eligible. In other words.....the goalposts have been moved. I would say there is a great need in Hereford....but obviously the powers that be would not be in agreement with this.
  22. Brilliant.....and just a tad unsettling!! I can't wait for the next installment of "Bobby's Holiday Romance!"......and I bet Harry can't either!! Just one last thing, the balaclava.......was it the soft green one?? I am given to understand it brings out the colour of his eyes beautifully!!
  23. Hi GDJ, I'm pretty sure this money is used for crisis loans - the bean counters will argue that as the money is a loan, and therefore repaid, in essence, the pot of money should not run dry! However,it's a bit more complex than that....naturally!! If this is the same money, we did have a discussion about it on December 23rd. The thread is on page 4 of Open Forum, I believe its called Government Grants to Councils to Fund The Needy. It was started by Silent Bull. Sorry, I can't provide a handy link!!
  24. Hereford has been granted funding, as part of a pilot scheme, for GP surgeries to open 7 days a week, until 8.00pm. Not sure when this starts-I believe it's fairly soon, and all 24 GP practises have signed up. Hopefully, this will make getting an appointment with the appropriate service a lot easier!
  25. Correct Biomech! Sensationalised rubbish! The Asda NHS out of hours clinic, is a fantastic resource. Everybody SHOULD know that A and E is for life threatening and serious accidents and emergencies. Being signposted to use an alternative medical provision, is surely a sensible option. If people didn't abuse A and E, it wouldn't be so over stretched. Turning up there, because you have a splinter in your finger is beyond ridiculous...but I assure you, it does happen. Its the same with dialling 999, for an ambulance. Life threatening and serious accident/injury only. They are not a taxi service!!
